1 Timothy 6:16 NLT
He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen.
This is amazing!! GOD is so holy that we can't and will never be able to grasp him completely...it says here that we cannot even get to see him because he shines...he lives in light do brilliant that we can't even look at it. It does mention that humans can't look at him. I take it that this is just now in this life and not when we pass be wise I really long for the day that i can see my maker face to face! All glory to our God whom words can't even begin to describe!
11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
ReplyDeleteWe as men of God must flee the sinful things of the world and pursue the things of God (Colossians 3:1-5). There is no debate here, if you are a man of God you will not set your mind on the things of this world. We must keep our eyes fixed upon the throne of Christ. It is only then that we can truly live the lives that He has called us to.
Pursue Righteousness, godliness, steadfastness, faith, love, and gentleness. Can we honestly say that we are fervently running after the things of God?
12 "Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."
ReplyDeleteAs manly men, we are always ready for a good fight, whether it's watching a manly movie with tons of manly explosions and manly gunfights/hand-to-hand fights or sticking up for our beliefs. So as men, we should be more than willing to "fight the good fight" of our faith. We should not be afraid of what others think of us, especially if it leads to us wandering astray or prevents us from fulfilling our role in God's kingdom. When we became Christians, we made a confession before God and were granted pardon from the blood of His Son. Nothing should be more important in our lives than living up to the price that was paid for us. As true men, we value honor and integrity and we should strive daily to become worthy of the sacrifice than someone else made for us, to repay the debt we owe Christ. Now, there are times when I struggle with this, when things like school or relationships or tv or sleep get in the way of fully fighting the good fight, so I want to ask you guys to hold me accountable for that and in exchange, I will strive to help you fight a better fight.

If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions,
ReplyDelete(1 Timothy 6:3-4 ESV)
Fix my eyes upon Jesus. What does that turn to, a God-given humility recognizing that without Christ, I am nothing. Yet in Christ, we have everything. And recognizing that I am to submit to my friends, family, superiors, and everyone out of reverence for Christ, and this a form of love. For if anyone hates his brother, the love of God is not in him. A true sign that I love...a desire to not lead my friends astray, a desire to teach sound doctrine.
"Father, would You make this true in my heart. In the name of Jesus."
17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
ReplyDeleteThis is some great advice to live by, especially at a school like tech which draws people in on the prospect of a high dollar job. But yes money is important and there is nothing wrong with having lots of it. But do not put your faith in it. It can do nothing for you in an eternal perspective.
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
ReplyDeleteI need to learn to be content in every situation. Lately I have been distressed over my school work and lack of time to do everything that needs to be done. I need to trust God and be content with the outcome.

ReplyDelete20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” 21 for by professing it some have swerved from the faith
Simply put, anything that leads away from the Gospel is not "knowledge", and those who claim that knowledge has led them away from it are deceived and poorly mistaken.
12 "Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wish when I am having a rough week for someone to say this to me. This is so encouraging. To me it says, just keep trucking along. Keep fighting and working through what God has planned for you. Fight for eternal life and after your fight is over, you will be rewarded in heaven. What an amazing verse.
20 Timothy, guard what God has entrusted to you. Avoid godless, foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge.
ReplyDeletePaul is speaking straight into the everlasting debates over "religion" that have lasted ever since the days of Christ. We as belivers waste our breath bikering over trivial or obscure aspects of the word, the church, ect. When we should be following the example set forth by the early Church to speak the life of Jesus because its the only way to the Lord and eternal salvation. This jumped at me as I was reading because we must find the line of debating for the common good of discussion or arguing over selfish pride.
All is Great in the Lord

ReplyDeleteThey are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

I think this passage is important for us to internalize. Most of come from blessed households, and seeing as most of us will graduate with strong degrees, we will more than likely continue to be financially blessed.
I believe that God gives us blessings to turn around and glorify him using these blessings. We must be careful not to glorify ourselves in our gifts, or to revel in them or trust in them, but rather give them away freely, exchanging our earthly gifts for heavenly gifts.
