Revelation 6 (April 21)

9 When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of all who had been martyred for the word of God and for being faithful in their testimony. 10 They shouted to the Lord and said, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge the people who belong to this world and avenge our blood for what they have done to us?” 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them. And they were told to rest a little longer until the full number of their brothers and sisterst—their fellow servants of Jesus who were to be martyred—had joined them.

This is just amazing. I think this is my favorite chapter so far. I mean, the one about heaven is AMAZING, but this one has some great prophecies. The first couple of horses are our hope. I chose this verse because it is amazing how Martyrs will be raised up and will be given white robes! God is so proud of those who do not turn their backs on Him...those that remain faithful!! This is incredible! They cry out to God and God tells them to wait...but the awesome thing is...they are at the feet of the throne!! What better place to be?! Worshiping the Lord who they died for...finally able to see Him in person. Their faith will be their eye!! They will rise! This is amazing! God is faithful!

  1. 16-17 and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

One day everyone will know who God is, and will fear Him appropriately. Everybody will see the coming of God, who is holy, will recognize their sin, and will all they can to escape the imminent judgment. This is everyone, our friends, family, and acquaintances! I pray that I would live my life with this perspective!

  2. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us[f] from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

This really stuck out to me because these people running and hiding are the rulers, the thinkers the best this world has to offer. But yet they run in terror when faced with the wrath of God. Its is a shame that anyone has to undergo the wrath of God but the fact that the best of this world run in fear show how much dominion God has over the people of this earth.

  3. 11 Then a ywhite robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.

What does it mean that they cannot come into the rest of the lord until their fellow servants are killed? This makes zero sense but once again I need to study this book a lot more. People, me included, run from Rev, because it is so metaphoric and holds so much symbolism. I want to embrace this confusing text and allow it to bring me closer to knowing the Lord and loving him and his awesome power.
