Revelation 1:3 NLT
God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time Is near.
Are we ready for his coming? Have we really been following his will in our lives. We need to obey our Lord and Savior...not in order to get into heaven but to be prepared for his coming...that he might find us honoring him instead of having our backs turned towards him. God has .done.so.much for us and he deserves our lives and our deveotion!! Lets read the word every day and pray to our Lord that we may follow his will every day of our lives!! Its the least we can do!
I wrote a long post, but the website deleted it.
ReplyDeleteLet me summarize:
Jesus is the Son of Man described in Daniel chapter 7. He is not like the beasts who ruled before him, but he shall be a just and merciful ruler.
In Revelation, Jesus is described similar in appearance to the Ancient of Days from Daniel 7. This means that Jesus is in the very Image of the Lord God Almighty.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
ReplyDeleteThis verse really stuck out to be because as i was thinking about the things that are said to come in revelation it is often scary to thing about the wrath of God. But here in the first chapter Jesus is comforting and says that we should not have any fear, because he is the son of God and he has saved us and we have nothing to fear about the end times. Praise God!
16 "In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance."
ReplyDeleteJohn's description amazes me in this chapter. The one thing that stuck out to me was when he described what came out of his mouth was a sword. This is exactly what we read in Hebrews when it says that the word of God is our sword and that His righteousness is our armor. The symbolism and how the two books correlate amazes me. This is the beginning of a great book and I am interested in the discussion that is brought up.
8 x“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, y“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
ReplyDeleteI have sung the song with this lyrics many many times but it is always more poinent when you read it. This shows us that we can not comprehend our God who is a master of time. He is the first thing that ever existed, being alpha. He will be around forever more, omega. These words of the Lord also show us that he is always with us because many times we feel all alone, or that some atheist is right - God doesn't exist. This passage says that he is and will still be in the future. Thank You Lord that you are so great and so much larger than we can fathom.
All is Great in the Lord
17-18 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
ReplyDeleteJohn, the disciple that Jesus loved, when he saw the resurrected, fully glorified Jesus, fell on his face as though dead. John was closer to Jesus than any of the other disciples yet this is his response. Do we have a large enough view of Jesus?
Do we see Jesus as both the sacrificial lamb and the roaring lion?
18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.
ReplyDeleteJesus may have died on the cross, but He conquered death and now holds the keys to death and Hell. How awesome is this?
