Hebrews 13

9 So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.

There are so many ideas out there that make us think that our salvation is based on the good that we do. These are a work based gospel ideas and can easily distract us from the faith based gospel which allows us to competely depend on the blood of Jesus Christ to save us from an eternal separation from God. We need top realize that our strength comes from God's grace and not from what we do or do not do...what we eat or do not eat--as some are in the habit of thinking. Thank God for his grace!

    6-7 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?"

    The LORD God is my sustainer and supplier. I need nothing more than Him. What a comforting passage this is. I can be fully confident that God will never leave me or forsake me therefore, I have absolutely nothing to fear in this world. Do we really trust God in this manner?

    15 "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name."

    I love to worship. I love music and believe in it's power as a universal language and a medium to convey emotions. And what better way to praise the God who loves us. I think this verse calls us to worship God. And I think it's worth noting that it also says in the Bible that the tongue is the gateway to the heart and by praising God, we reflect our true love for God.

    1 "Keep on loving each other as brothers"

    This verse isn't hard to memorize! I am actually going to start using this when I see us not getting along. We are brothers and we should love and treat each other like so. This is one of the reasons I joined a fraternity, was to have this brotherly love and admiration that biological brothers have. We are more than friends and more than guys who go to the same school, so why treat each other this way. Let's love one another like brothers who love the Lord!
